1.13.11: I suppose these could be breaths of nervousness. Sarah Palin doesn't strike me as a typically nervous person, but from what I'm hearing about the bullshit-laden clip this piece was culled from, maybe just maybe she was like "you know what, this might not be the best time to reaffirm my personal brand in the national spotlight" and thus: breaths of resignation.
But in reality these are the breaths of forced drama, histrionics. Gabe of Videogum writes, "you can just hear by the Community Theater dramatic inflections that she peppers throughout the speech that she doesn’t even know what half of the words mean." I have not and will not watch the original which Team Sarah Palin posted on the official Sarah Palin Vimeo page (Vimeo? Seriously? Seems too elitist for Palin/Palinites, but then again it's not like they don't struggle with wanting to be hip [on top of their daily struggle to make this world a garbage dump full of their backwards ideals]), so I guess I can't comment for sure.
What I do know is that this works as a standalone art piece. Stripped of words, and even without the context of knowing the origin of this particular video, we're left with this strange vision of Palin: The Living Photograph. Her face alone evokes such strong feelings. Even if you are rational person and do not 'hate'any other human--especially media figures who at this point are hardly even the same species--you certainly feel something very positive or something very negative just by seeing this woman take a breath of air. There is little to no room in between, no space for neutral feelings. She's very much like Nicholas Cage is in this regard. (Via Videogum: here and here)
